  ***Vike***

“Are you going to stay mad at me forever?” I somewhat growl, trying to keep my anger at bay so I don’t aggravate her any more than I already seem to do.

She narrows her eyes and that’s kinda impressive since I thought she was already doing it for the last half hour or so. It’s the same as it has been for the past three weeks. Ever since I captured her, I’ve kept her in this room—trying to get through to her that she belongs here with me—but she keeps fighting me at every turn.

“Probably,” she snaps. “I mean, it’s not like you’re the perfect gentleman. Hell, I’d even settle for fewer manners in a man as long as he’s respectful. But it seems you’re missing a major chunk of that too. Because a normal person wouldn’t rip me away from my sisters and most definitely wouldn’t keep my twin and me prisoner.”

I gotta say, even with all the fury surrounding her and the way her little fists sit clenched on her hips...she’s the perfect little fireball package of trouble I’d happily volunteer to sign up for.

Finding a true mate is one in a million, and finding mine couldn’t have come at a better time. Though one of her sisters did mess around with not only my future, but my brothers’, and the rest of the world along with it.

“Would you like to see our room if you’re tired of this one?” I offer, and even hold my arm out in the direction it is in while I hope to have added enough huskiness into my voice to soften her up to the idea.

She tilts her head. “You’re delusional if you’re thinking I’m going to follow you like a lovesick puppy trailing behind your dick because I need me some ‘between the legs’ action. Newsflash, keeping a woman prisoner against her will isn’t very romantic, asshole. Nor is it in any way pushing any sexual buttons in some Stockholm syndrome kinda way. You need to let me and my sister go.”

Funny little firefly. She even stomps her foot to get her point across.

“Not delusional, sweet cheeks. Seems you’re the one who isn’t giving into the inevitable.” I cross my arms in front of my chest and glare down on her.

My annoyance suddenly spikes my veins because she is obviously ignoring the cravings of the eternal mate bond. Do I dare say it’s undeniably coursing through her veins and hard as fuck to fight because it’s running just as fierce through mine.

“Release Dio or bring me to her, then I might accept this whole insane thing you have in mind about the two of us being mates,” she easily supplies as if I was the one who demanded we hook up.

“Are you going to blame everything on me? Is that how it’s going to be between us? Because the eternal mating shit is something rooted deep inside everyone’s DNA in case you missed that detail in Paranormal class,” I can’t help but snap.

Fuck. This woman’s yanking on every damn emotion running inside me. Hate, adoration, aggravation, lust, annoyance, you name it and I have a string for her to yank it.

“Well, yeah. Duh. Of course. I know how it works, I’m not a damn idiot. But I’m pretty sure we’re linked up because you did something awful so they had to give you someone as nice as me to balance it all out.” The fierceness in her voice along with the stern look in her eyes gives me no indication if she’s shitting me or not.

All I can do is shrug. “I’m born to only obtain the best so it would be logical something as perfect as you to get thrown my way.”

“I’m. Not. Perfect,” she snaps as if she wants to bite my damn head off. “Nor am I a something.”

“Now, now, little firefly, we share many different points of view, but in this I happen to be right; you are perfect, and something all right. Something very special. I mean, how could you not be? You’re mine. Not to mention you are half Guardian with a dash of Fae, and Phoenix running through your veins, and that’s just the buildup. Your sharp attitude, captivating beauty...not to mention it’s all wrapped in a killer body. The way I see it; you’re a whole lotta something perfect from where I’m standing.”

Weirdly enough she blushes and her nose tips to the floor as she mutters, “Yeah, well, maybe you’re standing too far away to see what you’re getting or need glasses because I’m far from perfect.”

How the hell can this straightforward woman become shy when she’s given a fucking compliment? Time to shift topics because I hate making her feel uncomfortable. Or at least this way, taunting her in different ways to get her to fire anger back is a must and highly entertaining.

“So, if I heard you correctly...if I bring you to your twin...you’d accept our bond and the mating,” I tell her as a statement and not a question.

I don’t ever ask for something. Demand? Yes. Get down on my knees and plea? Fuck no. Not for anyone.

Her eyes lock on mine and the fierceness is back in her gaze. “You’re not shitting me or laying a trap? After all this time you’re going to offer me a deal that if I say yes to mating with you...you will let my sister go?”

Not the way I wanted to go with this. I told her I’d bring her to her twin, but I’ll take it because this has taken up enough of my time and there’s no use fighting this shit between us and she damn well knows it too. “Yes. Your twin in exchange for setting the mating and bond between us in place.”

“Deal,” she snaps and holds out her hand.

So damn eager all of a sudden. She might think she has a plan up her sleeve to
get around it but truth is? There isn’t an escape; we’re meant to be together and once the bond is in place, it’s locked for all eternity.

The corner of my mouth twitches and before she can rethink this whole thing, I grasp her hand and shake on it. “Deal.”

You might be wondering why the hell I’m holding her sister prisoner. Well, when we obtained the knowledge there was an Angel present somewhere in the Death by Reaper MC, Vampire Charter...I wanted her brought to me.

Why? It’s hard to explain without getting into all the dragging details but just think of it this way...I’m a Demon and an Angel is my counterpart. An Angel is a purity; to obtain one is to have unforeseen power in your hands. Power I need for a chance to cure my brother.

I sent a few of my guys over to snatch up the Angel, but when they got there Dio fought—and killed—my guys. Luckily one of them managed to hit Dio with an electrical boost, letting her body teleport into one of the rooms I use as holding cells; she’s been my prisoner since.

It’s also how I became aware of Tria being my eternal mate. There was something about Dio, and when she started rambling how her twin would come for her, I realized why and how she’d be a key element to get what I need.

I’m the president of the Death by Reaper MC, Demon Charter. My twin brother, Gunnar, was cursed by a lower level Demon named Vapula. Vapula is a chemist who had ambitions to mutate himself from a lower level to an upper level Demon. Shit doesn’t work that way since one can only be born an upper level Demon. And the whole mutating himself didn’t stop him from wanting more power.

He created some kind of poison along with a chant to curse my brother because I reckoned he wanted to take over the Demon MC charter. When that didn’t work out as planned—because I was able to stop him—he set higher goals and now wants to taint the world.

He’s working on something that will allow him to curse everyone at once. I need to kill him to end the curse on my brother or find a way to break it, and prevent him from bringing doom upon the world.

Every Charter of Death by Reaper MC is put on this earth to protect the humans. It might not make sense to leave this task to Paranormals but it’s the damn truth. Fucked up thing is that we’ve fought to protect humans and Paranormals. But who the fuck was there when I faced Vapula as he cursed my brother?

No one, that’s who. The Orderly—the one upstairs who’s in control so to say—turned its back on us when Vapula went on a killing spree after cursing my brother. They simply blamed all Demons. Even if I’ve been fighting to get my MC back on track and rectify this shit, they’ll never accept us ever again.

You can imagine how fucking surprised I was when I first laid eyes on my eternal mate. Never in a million years would I have thought this fucked up world would grant me an eternal mate. It’s special, unique; the most rewarding thing life can throw at you.

With everything that happened with my brother and The Orderly along with every other MC turning its back on us? Yeah, I thought I’d fucked up that privilege. So, you bet your ass I’m grabbing it with both hands.

“Come,” I growl and turn on my heels.

I can sense she’s following close behind me and the soft whisper of her words, “Would it freakin’ hurt him to say please?” makes me chuckle.

I could grab her and teleport from one place to the next with a mere thought, but I’d rather enjoy the walk with her following behind me instead. I have a lot of abilities like this. My powers are wrapped with magic but my strength increases—and fuels—through anger. And the few times I’ve been in Tria’s presence I’ve discovered my abilities are magnified.

Knowing this, it certainly spikes my curiosity about how all of it will impact our mating. Will I keep the extra power boost? Or maybe it will spice us up in other ways. One way or the other, I’m embracing anything that might give me an extra shot to finally take out Vapula if I’m able to track him down.

The clubhouse is a huge compound we recently built. It has a large main room with a bar, three pool tables, several couches along with a few tables and chairs, and there are bedrooms in the back where most of my guys live. There is also two levels of basement underneath the clubhouse.

Well, it used to be our old clubhouse, which was hidden underground but when Vapula cursed my brother, I had the new compound built on top of it. This way I had enough space for my brother to roam around. And, to be honest...I didn’t have a choice since he demanded I lock him up inside ever since it happened.

I use the level in between as holding cells. They used to be rooms for bikers to sleep in but since the new ones in the clubhouse are all state of the art...they preferred those while these stay empty. This way I have some use for them every now and then.

Hence the reason Dio is staying in one. It’s not exactly a prison—she has luxuries—just nowhere to go since I made sure to use magic to put up a spell to bind her. A Fae can flash, blink, teleport, whatever you want to call it; moving from one place to the next within a second.

I take the flight of stairs down and place my hand on the display to scan my print. A bleep and flashy green lights ring out before the door hisses and slides open. Stepping inside, I instantly know something’s wrong. Jogging to the room Dio was staying in, I come to a dead stop when I see the big, melted hole in the floor.

“Fuck,” I roar and turn on my heels to run past Tria and off to the back where the secret entrance is to where my brother is locked away from the rest of the world.

I hear her footsteps behind me before I put my hand on the display to open the first door. I turn to face Tria. “Whatever happens...don’t kill my brother. Don’t try to fight him either. If he charges toward you...turn around and fucking leave. Understood?”

She doesn’t so much as blink or question me but grants me a tight nod instead. Good enough.

My handprint grants us access and when I reach the final door which keeps my brother locked away from the world, ice fills my veins. It’s dead quiet. My brother always screams his lungs out, he can’t help it; his torment is ongoing.

“What’s wrong?” Tria whispers as she grabs my forearm.

“It’s too quiet. My brother can’t stop screaming for very long. His torment is ripping through his body nonstop with the need to kill. He fights it—not wanting to hurt anyone—it’s the reason he wanted me to lock him up in here. I’ve witnessed him being this quiet only once.”

“Only once?” Tria clears her throat. “What happened then?”

“He killed Vapula’s mate when Vapula threw her at Gunnar. The fucker threw his own mate knowing Gunnar couldn’t be able to stop killing her if he wanted to.” I sigh and plough a hand through my hair. “Now you know Vapula doesn’t care about anything. The fucker turned pure evil when he mutated and is biding his time to strike hard.”

Because no one ever kills his one and only true mate willingly to save his own ass. Fuck, no. Even if Tria and I aren’t mates yet...I’d still throw myself in front of danger to save her, knowing there isn’t any other woman out there for me.

I give one final warning to Tria so she understands. “A single touch from my brother to a human makes the curse spread. I don’t know if it’s the same for Paranormals. Please, don’t come near him to test the theory.” I barely manage to swallow the words I wanted to voice after this...about how I don’t want to risk losing or getting her hurt.

“Gotcha,” she says and shoots me a wink. “Now stop going all soft on me and show me why...oh, fuck. The hole in the floor...you were taking me to see my twin. He’s quiet. If he killed my sister,” Tria growls and doesn’t voice the rest of her words but starts to shift into one furious looking Fae.

Her nails elongate into claws while scales appear on her face. Fire crackles around her and I feel the rush of power surrounding her. I take a deep breath and can taste the power flowing into me along with it. Tria gasps and her attention shifts toward me now that her fury is subdued through the shock of what just happened and she starts to shift back.

&
nbsp; “No,” she whispers, clearly realizing what I just did but is as stunned as I am.

“It’s not like I did it on fucking purpose,” I growl in return. “Hell, I didn’t even know it was possible.”

“My...my...it’s...” Tria clears her throat. “The only one who is capable of channeling or tapping into the powers of a female Fae is their true mate so they can empower together.”

I could jump with joy but this is not the time nor the place. “We have bigger issues on hand,” I croak. “Stay behind me, okay? I need to know you’re safe at all times.”

This time her head bounces up and down a few times and she takes a step away from the door. With what she just mentioned—the possibility of her sister’s death—she hands me her trust and lets me lead.

The deal we struck about her submitting to us being true mates is in the wind because what just happened—me being able to channel her powers—showed her undeniably that I’m her true mate.

My palm hits the glass of the final display to scan my hand, making the door slide open instantly. I take a step inside and search for my brother. The open space is empty. I stalk to the room in the back, the one that was right underneath the room the hole was in. When I’m at the door I can feel Tria’s palm slide over mine, linking our fingers together.

I glance down and up to meet her gaze. “Oh, shut up,” she whisper-hisses, making me shake my head.

I seriously can’t begin to understand this bouncing power pack of a woman. Soft singing draws my attention away from her. I feel Tria’s grip tighten, preventing me from taking a step forward.

She leans in next to my ear. “Dio rarely sings.” Tria’s voice shakes. “She only sings to keep the flames at bay.”

  The flames at bay?

  The.

  Fucking.

  Flames?

I drag Tria along with me to Gunnar’s room and stop dead in my tracks at the sight before me.

  Chapter Two

  ***Tria***

Holy shit. Didn’t Vike just warn me about not touching Gunnar? Yet Gunnar’s head is in my sister’s lap while her flames are surrounding them as she sings. And...again; holy shit.
